CARING FOR Oceans

CARING FOR People

Exploring ways to conserve our oceans while co-cultivating and sustaining human dignity and well-being.

Research

As a marine social ecologist, I examine psycho-cultural aspects of communities, in partnership with them, to develop context-driven conservation.

Stories

As a photojournalist, I share stories that reveal our complex and nuanced connections to the natural world through both words and images.

Exploration

As a water woman, I love any movement that helps me know the ocean better, and I’m always seeking thoughtful modes of exploring.

FEATURED PROJECT

Follow Dory on her real-life journey from a reef in the Indopacific to a hobbyist’s home in Colorado Springs. This interactive, multi-media website resulted from a three-year effort documenting the global aquarium fish trade with a team of other National Geographic Explorers. I contributed much of the still and video content to the site.
